Rather cloudy today. Wrote a few letters [’twas the 20th birthday of his sister Eleanor (or Lippy)], read some, and later in the afternoon took a walk down the river. Abdulla has the real system for fishing. Late last night he dropped a line in, baited with meat, and the result was two large fish, the larger of which I am sure was the great-grandfather of the Maharaja. He tasted good, but was too bony.

It is raining and lightning now. Our pony ride is transferred to tomorrow if it is a good day. Am hitting the hay early tonight after our 3:30AM session last night.

The other day in Srinagar I saw a dancer all dressed in woman’s clothes, yellow and all bright colors. It was a unic [eunuch]. Abdulla informs us that the men dancers are all unics. However, I do not believe they were born unics as are those holy priests of Jodhpur.
