Aboard Ethan Allan

Sea a bit better today, but the wind still plenty stiff with a drifting shower or two. Made but 181 miles today, a total of 2,247 miles from Honolulu in twelve days—just half way to the Canal. Yesterday eve before dusk we saw a cargo ship about five miles off port bound for Honolulu, the first thing we’d seen since Hawaii was lost in darkness ten days before.
Played bridge tonight with Red, Roberts and Slim. Won 819 to 510.
